As the year-end festive spirit filled the air, the Japan Studies Program hosted a vibrant Christmas exchange on December 17. This year’s celebration was specially planned and executed by the first-year graduate students, showcasing the creativity and leadership of our newest cohort. Faculty and students gathered to share warmth and friendship during the cold winter season. The highlight of the day was the "Good Gift, Bad Gift" exchange. Everyone brought their A-game, resulting in a mix of heartwarming practical surprises and hilarious "gag gifts" that drew waves of laughter and cheers. Beyond the gift exchange, the organizers prepared a feast of pizza, fried chicken, and delicate snacks, providing a perfect culinary escape from academic rigors. To keep the energy high, the program included rhythm games and a thrilling Kahoot trivia competition. These interactive sessions not only tested everyone's reflexes but also brought faculty and students closer through friendly competition. As the event concluded, many stayed behind to chat in small groups, sharing stories about their research lives and daily anecdotes. This Christmas party ended on a high note, relieving end-of-semester stress and strengthening the bonds within our Japan Studies family. A special thanks to the first-year students for their hard work in making this a shining and warm memory of 2025!
