Recently, Professor Shih-Hui Li, Director of the Japan Studies Program, led five students to Okinawa to participate in the 2025 Peace Exchange Forum: "Thoughts on Peace" (Heiwa e no Omoi). This international gathering brought together young scholars from seven different regions across five countries, including Taiwan, Japan (Okinawa, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki), South Korea, Cambodia, and Vietnam. By sharing the historical scars and traumatic experiences of their respective nations, the students engaged in profound dialogues to foster mutual awareness and understanding. In addition, the delegation conducted site visits to historical landmarks such as the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, the Haebaru Culture Center, and Shuri Castle, providing students with deep insights into the lesser-known historical context of Okinawa. This exchange not only successfully broadened the students' international horizons but also embodied the spirit of international diplomacy through cross-border friendships.
