On the afternoon of November 29, Assistant Professor Tadahiro Ishihara of the Master’s Program in Japan Studies led a delegation of students interested in political organizations to visit the Central Headquarters of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The group was received by Wu Chun-chih, Director of the Department of China Affairs, and other department members. During the meeting, discussions covered the DPP's party positions, including U.S.-China relations, the evolution of the party's stance on cross-strait relations, the international and cross-strait policies of the Tsai administration and Chairman Lai, strategies for maintaining peace, and an analysis of the 2024 election. Participating students actively engaged in the session, raising questions to better understand the DPP’s perspectives on various issues, such as military threats from the CCP, the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), Taiwan’s diplomatic situation, and the current presidential election outlook. The visit concluded with an in-depth exchange and discussion between both sides.
